Cliff and Marilyn Douglas began developing their 7 1/2 acre desert garden soon after moving into their new home in 1983. Today the garden includes 236 trees representing 48 different species and varieties, along with Saguaros, Cordons, Senitas, Prickly Pear’s, Yuccas, Agaves, Aloes, Organ pipes, Argentine Toothpicks and many other flowering desert shrubs and plants. An extensive, pavers trail system weaves through the gardens many vistas, sculptures, fountains, and seating areas.
The award-winning original garden was designed by Steve Martino FASLA, which is featured in the book Desert Gardens of Steve Martino, and the American Man’s Garden. The award winning residence was designed by John Douglas FAIA.
