City of Tucson Pedestrian Advisory Committee Applications Being Accepted

In an effort to provide input from a pedestrian perspective on transportation projects in the City of Tucson, the Mayor and Council on February 12, 2013 approved the creation of a 13-member Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Applications are now available for any City resident desiring to become a member of the committee. Applications can be found on-line at http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/clerks/boards?board=115

The Mayor and each Council Member will appoint one member each. The City Manager will appoint the remainder of the committee members representing the following categories:

Seniors
Youth/Schools
Advocacy organization
Disabled
Landscape/Urban Forestry
Public Safety

Applications are due by Friday, April 26, 2013. Each member of the Pedestrian Advisory Committee shall serve until June 30, 2017. Committee members will provide input on transportation projects such as road plans, bridges, street repaving, as well as Plan Tucson.

Skills and Qualifications:

·         Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including knowledge and experience working with technical staff to create persuasive copy that is clear, concise, thoughtful, inspirational and easy to understand. Candidate should also be familiar with the development of supporting documentation and visuals as needed (images, captions, side bars, and reference material).
·         Responsible for coordinating deliverables/deadlines with Clients and consultants throughout all phases of a project, sensitivity to the workloads and needs of other individuals and a spirit of cooperation;
·         Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven and energizing environment while consistently producing collateral and support material of exceptional quality. Must be able to work with poise and efficiency under pressure; understands the time sensitive nature of marketing, proposals and interviews; and be willing to contribute wherever, whenever and however possible to support overall efforts of the marketing group with the expectation that additional hours may be required in this effort;
·         Excellent project management, organization, and people skills, including the ability to work with a wide-variety of staff levels from senior executives to administrative staff;
·         Ability to participate in collaborative project team environments with an eye towards deliverables and end goals at all times;
·         Capable of adhering to deadlines while working on multiple, diverse projects;
·         Demonstrate initiative, follow-through, problem-solving ability and ownership of all assignments, asking for clarification/direction as necessary;

Requirements:

·         A minimum of three years of experience required;
·         Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field preferred;
·         Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and Illustrator required;
·         Proficiency in WordPress, Flash, and social media outlets;
·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook required;
·         Previous experience in the A/E industry and Aera a plus.
