Greetings AzASLA members & supporters.

Our 2012 Call for Entries is now available to showcase your projects and give you the opportunity to exhibit your work to your peers and others in our industry. Below please find the entry form as well as the Submittal guidelines and instructions. All entries must be received no later than 4:00 PM, THURSDAY JANUARY 19, 2012

Awards will be recognized and presented at the 2012 Arizona ASLA Annual Dinner & Awards Gala on Saturday, March 31st, 2012 at the AE England Building, located in Civic Space Park, downtown Phoenix. Applicants with winning entries will be notified in advance.

8.17 Public Awareness Campaign

The noon event on 8.17.11 at the Phoenix Civic Space and downtown Tucson reached out to and educated many people about landscape architecture and what we do. This effort coincided with events held in over 100 cities by other ASLA members across the nation at noon. The public awareness campaigns held within Phoenix and Tucson were two of the 170 events nationwide. For more photos check out our gallery and facebook page.

Thank you to the energetic volunteers in Phoenix and Tucson who went out to support the national public awareness campaign joining landscape architects across the nation during the noon hour. And double kudos to those volunteers who responded quickly and efficiently to the clean-up request within a few hours in Phoenix. Your efforts of an exceptionally quick response were graciously noted by a public official.

Finally, our apologies go to the two or so firms in the Phoenix area that were contacted by their public sector clients regarding the spray chalk stenciling. This was 2 firms too many to have received negative correspondences. Apologies were sent to the jurisdictions and clean-up immediately followed. Thank you for contacting AzASLA to alert us of the situation.

Membership Decision from National ASLA

Thank you all who responded to a survey regarding membership qualification changes. The ASLA Board of Trustees voted on changes at the mid-year conference in May. Basically:
a) No changes to Full Membership
b) Amendments to International Membership

AZ Chapter Call for Nominations

Submission Deadline: Monday, July 22, 2011 by 5:00 p.m.

The Nominations Committee is requesting nominations for the open leadership positions of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Arizona Chapter, for the 2011-2012 year; depending on office, this is a two (Section Vice President Chairs) or four (chapter President) year term. This is your opportunity to nominate yourself or another worthy ASLA Arizona member to participate in our chapter leadership.

You can make a difference, become a part of the local, state and national activities to increase professional visibility and promote the goals of landscape architecture.

Correction Notice: It has come to our attention that the printed edition of the Spring 2011 Mesquite Journal does not properly acknowledge the institutions and instructors of the student award winners and jury members. These corrections have been made in the digital edition on pages 8, 11 &12.
